DAY 30 DAY 30 DAY 30!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OH MY GOD I MADE IT TO DAY 30. ARGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!! I really can’t believe I’ve done it. I’m going to keep this post short as you have no idea how much I just want to sit and relax with a lovely glass of wine and left the last 30 days just wash over me (hopefully once the little one is asleep – he’s fighting it so I might also have to go and lend a hand). I’m going to do a proper review, round up, before and after pictures at some point over the next few days when I get a minute, it may end up being next week before I post it though as this week is CRAAAZZZYYYYY.

On the Whole I’ve really enjoyed my Whole 30 and I’ve discovered some fabulous new recipes and ways of eating different things, I’ve got a new respect for actually good for you sweet ‘treats’ and overall I feel like I’ve made some really healthy and positive changes both mentally and physically. Yes its been hard in places but I love if I’m hungry I can just eat. I haven’t spent a single minute (apart from when dinner was running late) feeling hungry, and yet I know I’ve lost some weight and feel better in myself and more confident. Today has been ok, a bit manic but work went fairly quickly and then I’ve been running around tonight sorting a few bits out for Dave’s birthday tomorrow. But that’s it, its over, I’ve done it!

What I ate –

Breakfast – Banana and cherries – I did have some bacon with me but I forgot about it!

Lunch – Leftover quiche and salad

Dinner – Good quality butchers sausages, a few sweet potato chips and mixed veg

Snack – ginger balls and a glorious glass of wine (yet to be consumed)

Right, I am off to relaaaaaaax. As I said I will do a proper round up post when I’ve got a little more time, but for now, its been wonderful sharing this experience with any of you that are reading and please feel free to drop me a comment if you have any questions or fancy trying Whole 30 for yourself. Oh and so far I’ve raised over £100 for the Mental Health charity Mind, so its all definitely been worthwhile 🙂

Day 29 – Holy crap it’s Day 29!!!

Soooooo I can’t believe tomorrow is my last day!!! In some ways its flown by and in others its dragged but either way we’ve got to this point. I’m excited and but I’m a little nervous as to what comes after. I’ve got such a busy few days when I’ve finished that I’m not sure I’ll have time to think about food really which will either mean I will seamlessly put all the new food tactics into place that I’ve been working on over the last month, or I’ll go back to eating quick and easy crap and fall back into old ways. I’m going to try not to do the latter, but only time will tell I guess and if I have a few days off the clean eating wagon just to get through (trust me, this next week is a seriously tough and stressful one) then so be it and I’ll pick back up on it next week. Nobody is perfect all the time and I will not beat myself up over it.

Today has been EXHAUSTING!!! We’ve got a landlord inspection of the house tomorrow so this afternoon was completely spent cleaning and tidying and sorting while the little one went out with the grandparents, it seems like he had a lovely time. I love that he enjoys spending time with them, and I think they enjoy it just as much so happy faces all round :-). This morning we went swimming too which was nice as we haven’t been for a while and then this evening was the manic pre-Monday run around of getting everything together for the week ahead. Tea took longer than expected which is always stressful and Jack didn’t really want to leave my side so I’m pretty knackered now. We’re just catching up on Strictly and then its an early night me thinks.

What I ate –

Breakfast – 2 rashers of bacon and mangetout

Post swimming snack – some fruit shared with the toddler (banana, grapes and apple I think)

Lunch – Tuna salad with pumpkin seeds and balsamic vinegar

Dinner – Chicken and bacon quiche (I mixed mine up and used peppers rather than mushrooms, plenty of leftovers for tomorrow) and salad

Snack – Ginger balls

Argh, on to day 30!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’m so excited to say that I’ve done it and to take my ‘after’ picture and compare it to the before picture. I feel like my body has changed a bit and my clothes fit better, my skin is clearer and (on the whole) I have more energy, am sleeping better and have more confidence. Lets see if we can carry all of these things on way past Whole 30 and see if I can make a change for life 🙂

Day 28 – so close, yet so far

I’m finding it hard to believe that day 28 is nearly over. I know I’m so close to the end but damn is it hard to not give in and have some of the chocolate in the cupboard that Dave got me for finishing the Whole 30, and a glass of wine. I’ve really not missed having a drink these last 4 weeks, up until today when I’ve just really fancied a nice glass of red and some yummy dark chocolate. Only a couple more days to go though.

Today has been hard – in various ways. We’re going away pretty much as soon as my Whole 30 is over to visit my family down south so we’re trying to wind down how much food we have in the house so it turned out today that I basically didn’t have anything proper in I could eat for lunch – we had run out of vegetables! I have since picked some up but the middle of the day was a big shady food wise, I kinda snacked and made do with what I could scrounge together. We also had a pretty nasty experience this morning as we’d headed out early to hit the retail park for a few bits and start getting some Christmas present ideas together. My little one is just starting to walk and he’s a bit too adventurous for his own good. Face met hard plastic floor at a rather high speed – cue wailing and lots of blood. Me being me flew into a major panic but my wonderful husband kept a cool head and managed to calm us both down and assess the damage. It looks like he’s only cut his lips and possibly his top gum a bit too. Blummin mouths bleed so much though it looked terrible and of course he wouldn’t let anyone see. Adrenalin hit me and I was really shaky and feeling sick. Eventually we all calmed down and headed home but it wasn’t really the nice relaxing family morning I’d had planned!

This afternoon I had a nice walk out to the shops with him while the big man stayed and did some house work, I’ve got myelf a good one! Then it was a little bit of a mad dash with tea as we had a man come just as we were dishing up to come on fit our new tv box, at least Jack thought it was amusing! Tonight Doctor Who is on and my lovely man is making me a cup of tea before we settle in for the night with that and Strictly. Today it really felt like autumn and I’m excited for warm jumpers and crisp leaves and slow cooker stews and cuddling up in front of the fire, ahhhhh lovely.

What I ate –

Breakfast – 2 rashers of bacon, scrambled eggs and a grilled tomato

Lunch/Snack (it kinda blended into one over the afternoon) – bit of leftover pork, pistacios, a tomato, some grapes and a little bit of jaffa loaf

Dinner – Slow cooked roast chicken, carrots, sugarsnaps and sweet potato chips – man I love those so much!

Snack – Ginger balls – I don’t know why I made so many, they’re never ending!

Time to cuddle up in front of the tele. Hopefully going swimming in the morning then a big house tidy in the afternoon, exciting times!

Day 27!!!

Blimey these last few days seem to be repeating themselves, its really hard to be so close to the end but still feel so far. 3 days to go though. Three little days. 2 of those are weekend days and weekends always fly, so really its only one hard day :-).

Today has been a mostly lovely day. I stayed home with the little one as he wa still a bit spotty and nursery probably wouldn’t have let him in. We stayed in in the morning and had some lovely play time and cuddles and then lunch and a nap. After lunch the sun came out and I fancied going up to our local high street to do some charity shop rummaging. We’ve got some cracking charity shops up here and you can find some fabulous bargains. I stopped by my mum’s and she decided to come with which was lovely, I love impromptu plans. I found some gorgeous things and my mum very kindly treated me to two dresses, a coat and a skirt! Jack wanted to walk some of the way too which is a bit back breaking but I love seeing him enjoying walking and feeling like a big grown up boy.

This evening has been a bit up and down, the traffic was horrendous picking Dave up so I was late getting there then it took us an age to get back and Jack was getting restless and skrikey, then dinner took way longer than expected and we were all a bit hungry and grumpy by the time we sat down then we had to rush through story time and bedtime. Anyway, Strictly starts tonight which I’m very excited about, I just hope I can stay awake for it. Mood and energy wise I’ve been good today, up until the hunger kicked in and I’ve been feeling pretty knackered since then but its been a very long week!

What I ate –

Breakfast – mostly fruit really, we didn’t have much else! I think apple with amond butter, grapes and half a banana.

Lunch – Leftover slow cooker pork ragu and salad

Snack – a few grapes and half a slice of jaffa loaf

Dinner – Homemade fish fingers (ground almond coating), carrots and peppers

Snack – Ginger balls

Day 26 – ahhhhhhh nearly there!!!

Much better day today – hooray! I definitely feel like I’ve had a bit of this bug that the baby has had. Today I’ve had loads more energy though and have been feeling a lot more positive. I do think a lot of it is tied in with sleep too – got a solid night’s sleep and felt loads better. Its hard to know when or if I’m going to get a good nights sleep though, but I’ll just cherish them when I do get them.

Today we had lots of playtime in the morning and then went for a walk to our local health foods shop to stock up on some bits and pieces. My absolute favourite thing from there is their coconut milk chocolate, I may have to treat myself to a bar when my Whole 30 is over. In the afternoon my brother and his girlfriend came round and it was lovely to see them and see my little one playing with them. He’s getting to be a proper little boy now rather than a baby, sometimes I can’t remember what he was like when he was a baby. I remember the good stuff, and I think I’ve mostly blocked out the bad, which is probably for the best. I do miss him being tiny though, tiny enough to just curl up and sleep on your chest. The little monkey is currently clambering about in his cot fighting going to sleep, he did have a 2 hour nap today, I probably should have woken him earlier but I was enjoying the peace! Whoops, I may have to go and lend a hand in a minute. Dave has the patience of a saint with him at bedtime. I try but I’m not a naturaly patient person, its been a difficult thing to learn since becoming a parent, but I’m getting there.

What I ate –

Breakfast – Eggs and veggies – I fried up some carrots, onions and peppers in some coconut oil then threw in 2 eggs and scrambled them with loads of black pepper. Grapes.

Lunch – Tuna salad with pumpkin seeds and balsalmic vinegar.

Snack – Okay, so when people come round, I bake. I just do, its just who I am. I wanted to bake something for my brother coming over so I made a jaffa loaf – probably not technically in the rules but its made with all approved ingredients so I am not feeling guilty, I am not. Even if I did have two slices.

Dinner – Slow cooker pork ragu froma paleo slow cooker book. Loooooads of leftovers for tomorrow 🙂

Right I’d best go and lend a hand with bedtime. He doesn’t look like he’s going to give up easily tonight!

Day 25

Today was a loooooong and tiring day! This week, predictably is absolutely dragging and I’ve spent most of the day thinking it was Thursday. Ahh well. I think I might have a mild version of this bug that my toddler has had as I’ve just felt so run down and weak all tired all day – it doesn’t help that at the moment he’s doing a thing where he wakes up around 1am every night and won’t go back to sleep until 3-4am and by the time he goes back to sleep I’m wide awake and it takes me ages to get back to sleep, and then this morning I woke up at 6am and there was no point trying to go back to sleep as my alarm was going off for work at 6:45am.

Today in work I had the first part of some training which required a decent amount of concentration but I felt like I asked some pretty important questions and got some good answers so that was good. After lunch though I started feeling really rubbish, I kinda hoped that the little one would be able to go into nursery today so I could just have half an hour between getting out of work and picking him up just to catch my breath, but no such luck as they wont allow him back until all his spots are gone so the likely-hood is is that I’ll have to stay home with him on Friday. I perked up a little once I got home but its been a bit of a trying evening between one thing and another so I’m glad of a bit of peace now, and Bake Off in a few minutes, woo hoo! I love Wednesday nights.

What I ate –

Breakfast – Banana, breakfast bar

Snack – a few almonds and walnuts

Lunch – Leftover Spanish chicken and sugar snaps, grapes.

Dinner – Home made bolognese sauce, mangetout and grilled peppers

Snack – I made Dave some apple crumble tonight and the smell was driving me crazy so I chopped up some apple and boiled it up with some cinnamon and nutmeg and a few raisins – yuuummmmyyy!

My brother and his girlfriend are coming up tomorrow so I’m looking forward to seeing them, I hope the weather is nice so we can get out for a walk. Right, bake off time!

Day 24

Sorry guys (if anyone’s even reading) really not in the mood to blog today. Been a bad day and I just want to shut off my brain so I’m just going to write what I ate and be done for tonight.

What I ate –

Breakfast – Apple and almond butter, 2 boiled eggs

Lunch – Leftover meatballs, salad and pumpkin seeds, grapes

Snack – Shared a banana with the toddler and some loves stuffed with whole garlic cloves.

Dinner – Slow cooked Spanish chicken (Paella seasoning, onions, peppers, tomatoes etc) and boiled veg.

Snack – Nut and seed power bites.

I need a breeeeaaaaakkkkkk!!!!!!
